A total of 88 homeless pets went home with new families from the Super Pet Adopt-a-thon hosted July 11 by King County Animal Care and Control in Kent.
Pet seekers formed a long line even before the doors opened hoping for the best chance at the animals. By noon more than 700 people had attended the event, which exceeded last year’s attendance by more than 200 people.
However King County Animal Care and Control’s facilities in Kent and Bellevue still have a number of animals in need of adoption.
To promote adult cat adoptions during the summer kitten season months, King County Animal Care and Control is waiving the adoption fee on all cats more than a year old. For $30 – the cost of the pet license – adopters can get an adult cat that has been spayed or neutered, with vaccinations and a microchip.
