Pickup driver injured in Kent after hitting tree

A man suffered life-threatening injuries after he lost control of his pickup truck, hit another vehicle and then struck a tree at high speed at about 9 a.m. Thursday in the 23800 block of 64th Avenue South.

A man suffered life-threatening injuries after he lost control of his pickup truck, hit another vehicle and then struck a tree at high speed at about 9 a.m. Thursday in the 23800 block of 64th Avenue South.

The driver was alone in the pick as he traveled southbound on 64th Avenue South, according to a Kent Fire Department media release. The driver of the second vehicle was shaken up but not injured.

Kent firefighters removed the man from the pickup and began CPR. Paramedics arrived to provide advance life support and transported the man to a local hospital.

Kent Police are investigating the cause of the accident. Police closed 64th Avenue South between James Street and South 236th Street during the investigation.
