A Kent Police sting to catch customers of prostitutes resulted in the arrest of a woman for investigation of prostitution at 10:30 p.m. June 17 in the 25200 block of Pacific Highway South.

An undercover male officer in a unmarked car saw a woman walking northbound on Pacific Highway in an area where an undercover female officer planned to pose as a prostitute.

The officer in the car drove up to the woman near a parking lot so she would not interfere with the police operation.

The woman allegedly approached the car, got inside and told the driver that police were everywhere and asked him to take her out of the area, according to the report.

The woman told the undercover officer she had a motel room they could use. The officer then found out how much the woman would charge for sex. The officer then gave a signal to other officers to arrest the woman for investigation of prostitution.

Assault

Police responded to a domestic dispute between a stepfather and his adult stepson at a party at 8:16 p.m. June 18 at a home in the 27300 block of 111th Place Southeast.

Police arrested the stepson for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he allegedly smashed a coffee cup against his stepfather’s head. The stepfather sustained a cut ear that required stitches, according to the report.

The stepfather became upset at the stepson for disrespecting a woman at the party by calling her names and telling her to leave. An argument started and that’s when the stepson reportedly struck his stepfather in the head with the cup. The two then started to fight in the kitchen and that’s when police were called.

Officers broke up the fight between the two men. The stepson declined to talk to police. Police also arrested the stepson on an escape warrant from the Washington State Department of Corrections.

Theft

A woman told police she had shoplifted groceries from a store because she couldn’t afford to buy the food, in an incident at about 2 p.m. June 17 at a grocery store in the 21100 block of 91st Avenue South.

Store security had the woman in custody for taking $31 worth of food from the store without paying, according to the report. The woman had placed the items in a purse in a shopping cart and then took the cart outside the store. Police told the woman they would mail her a citation for third-degree theft.
