Videos from two robberies helped Seattle Police track down a man in the King County jail who allegedly robbed a Kent 7-Eleven store on Sept. 12 and a Seattle bank Sept. 14.
The 37-year-old Seattle man had been taken into custody for an unrelated charge several days after the robberies, according to a Kent Police media release.
Kent Police identified the man as a robbery suspect at a 7-Eleven store along the West Valley Highway. In that case, the armed man was caught on in-store surveillance video brandishing a firearm while demanding money from a store clerk.
Kent Police released photos of the armed man caught on the video in effort to find him. The man also reportedly had been caught on video two days later robbing a Seattle bank.
Detectives from Kent and Seattle circulated information regarding both crimes to area police agencies and the public.
A Seattle Police officer on Sept. 20 identified the bank robbery suspect from a photograph and notified detectives. Working from interviews and eyewitness identification, charges are now pending on both cases.
“This is a great example of police sharing information and working together to more effectively address high impact offenders,” said Kent Police Sgt. Pat Lowery.
