Late-night travelers who use State Route 167 through Kent need to prepare for delays June 25-28.
Crews will close the highway between the South 212th Street exit and the 84th Avenue/Central Avenue exit. Traffic will detour onto East Valley Highway.
Here’s the schedule:
• Close the southbound lanes on June 25-26 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Close the northbound lanes on June 27-28 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The closure is for placement of bridge girders for the new South 224th Street bridge over Highway 167, an alternate route for drivers between the Kent Valley and the East Hill. City staff expects the $15 million bridge to be done in 2019.
Workers in the first phase of the project will construct a new three-lane roadway to connect East Valley Highway (aka 84th Avenue S./Central Avenue N.) and 88th Avenue South.
