A 66-year-old Renton man suffered critical injuries when his SUV collided with a semi early Wednesday morning in Kent at the intersection of 68th Avenue South and South 228th Street.
The semi-truck was northbound just before 6 a.m. on 68th Avenue South, according to an email from Kent Police Assistant Chief Jarod Kasner. The semi driver slowed to make the left hand turn (on a green arrow signal) onto South 228th Street and the SUV, who was eastbound on South 228th Street, reportedly ran the red light and collided into the back of the trailer.
Paramedics took the Renton man to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in critical condition, Kasner said. He was alone in the SUV. The semi driver was not injured.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, Kasner said.
