The Riverbend Eagles, through all the inclement weather, have been busy working on their nest, preparing for another season of eaglet rearing.
The eagles’ activity also brings out the Fellow Eagle Watchers with their cameras and other gear. The group has been observing and documenting activities of the Riverbend Eagles since 2014, although the eagles have nested in the area for many years, according to some of the locals.
The purpose of the Fellow Eagle Watchers is to observe and educate the public about these urban eagles. Group founder, Julene Bailie, wrote two children’s books about the Riverbend Eagles. Her books, “The Eagle Tree” and “The Bully in the Nest” are written not only to teach children about the eagles, but also focus on life skills.
You can follow Bailie and the activities of the Riverbend Eagles on Facebook. Or you can stop by and see the Riverbend Eagles and the Fellow Eagle Watchers in person.
The nest tree is located just off the Green River Trail, behind the Riverbend Golf Course, at the corner of Russell Road and James Street in Kent.
