Continuing a long tradition of supporting local students in the pursuit of further education, the Rotary Club of Kent awarded nearly $10,000 in vocational scholarships to select seniors from the Kent School District.
The young adults who have been chosen seek hands-on skilled vocational careers, providing good paying jobs.
The Rotary Club awarded $1,600 scholarships to each of the following seniors:
• Alexandria Hindman and Rylie Arnold of Kentlake plan to attend South Seattle Community College where they will study culinary arts.
• Kaitlyn Lewis of Kentlake plans to attend Green River Community College to earn an associate’s degree as a para-educator.
• Tanner Zeiler of Kentridge plans to attend Universal Technical Institute in Phoenix to become a diesel mechanic.
• Nikita Itin of Kent-Meridian plans to attend GRCC to study welding.
• Salvador Zuniga of Kent-Meridian plans to attend Highline College to study graphic design.
Rotary is a worldwide service organization where each of the more than 30,000 clubs strives to help its local community and provide fellowship for its members. The Rotary Club of Kent has been serving the greater Kent community for 56 years.
