Witnesses told officers that the man was traveling westbound on Veterans Drive on the West Hill and had stopped at the traffic light, waiting to turn northbound on Military Road South, according to a Nov. 21 Kent Police news release. A person ran up to his vehicle, shot multiple times into the passenger’s side window and then fled.
The SeaTac man turned to go northbound on Military Road South, hit some light poles and came to rest in the 23000 block of Military Road South. The suspect has not yet been identified. It was not believed to have been a random incident, according to police.
Officers responded at about 1:06 a.m. after a report of a vehicle crash with light poles along Military Road South. While en route to the call, 911 dispatch advised that someone may have shot into the vehicle prior to the crash.
Multiple officers showed up and found the driver alone in a 2010 Lexus with obvious injuries to his head and neck, according to police. He was nonresponsive. Officers began lifesaving efforts that were taken over by Puget Sound Fire personnel and medics, but the man did not survive.
