King County contractors continue construction on the Kent East Hill Diversion sewer pipeline.
The new pipeline will help provide sufficient capacity to meet Kent’s needs through 2050 and reduce the chance of sewer backups into homes and streets, according to a King County Wastewater Treatment Division Nov. 4 update.
Work Activities:
• Nighttime work Nov. 8-11. Crews will work on 111th Avenue Southeast on school property to excavate across the street and install the final segment of the new sewer pipe and a manhole. To minimize extra disruptions to the school and neighbors, work will take place through the weekend during daytime and nighttime hours 24 hours a day if required to complete the work on school property.
During nighttime hours residents may notice possible noise, vibration and lights from construction equipment.
• Pipe installation along S.E. 264th St. between 114th Ave. S.E. and school property is planned to be complete by the end of November.
• Restoration activities on S.E. 264th St. and school property are expected to be completed by the end of the year, weather dependent.
Expect lane restrictions and parking limitations in work zones along S.E. 264th St. Please use caution and obey flaggers and posted traffic signs.
• What to Expect During Construction:
• Nov. 8-11 work hours up to 24 hours/day on school property
• Normal work hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays
• Single lane closures in work areas
• Parking and sidewalk restrictions
• Cones, signs and flaggers will be used to manage traffic flow and local access
• Increased travel time when driving through the work area
• Noise and other activity associated with a construction site: work crews, dust, trucks, heavy machinery and excavating equipment
