The Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 5-1 in Western Hockey League play Saturday night at Xfinity Arena in Everett.

The Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 5-1 in Western Hockey League play Saturday night at Xfinity Arena in Everett.

Everett (26-12-2-2) took a 1-0 lead at 10:49 of the second period. Defenseman Cole McDonald took a shot from the left point with traffic in front of the Seattle net that beat Seattle goalie Landon Bow. Kevin Davis and Matt Fonteyne had the assists.

The Silvertips scored 25 seconds after their first goal to take a 2-0 lead. Connor Dewar beat Bow from the right circle on assist from Tristen Pfeifer and Brycen Martin.

Everett led 19-17 in shots after two periods.

The Silvertips scored two goals 55 seconds apart early in the third period to take a 4-0 lead. MacDonald scored a power-play goal at 2:54 and Kevin Davis scored at 3:49.

Seattle replaced Bow with Logan Flodell after the fourth Everett goal. Bow made 19 saves on 23 shots and his record is now 13-15-4-0 with the loss.

Everett’s Carson Stadnyk scored a five-on-three power-play goal at 9:50 of the third to give them a 5-0 lead.

Seattle (24-16-3-0) got on the board when Donovan Neuls scored on a backhand shot from the low slow slot at 16:15 of the third. Nolan Volcan took a shot from the high slot that was blocked and came to Neuls. Neuls shot went through Everett goalie Carter Hart’s legs for his seventh goal of the season.

Everett outshot Seattle 16-9 in the third period and 35-26 in the game.

Flodell had 11 saves on 12 shots in 16:11 of action.

Hart stopped 25 of 26 shots to get the win.

The T-Birds’ next game is Tuesday against the Saskatoon Blades at 7:05 p.m. at the ShoWare Center.
