For the Reporter
Kent-based Sleep Country collected a record-breaking number of shoes for foster kids during its annual donation drive.
The drive collected 10,203 pairs of shoes, a 27-percent increase over 2014.
In the Seattle area alone, 6,692 donations were made, store officials said.
The drive finished June 7, and all donations will be distributed among Sleep Country’s nonprofit partner foster organizations in the Northwest.
For those who missed the shoe drive and would like to give back now, Sleep Country is hosting its annual Clothing Drive for Foster Kids, collecting new clothing items for all ages and sizes, such as jeans, T-shirts, sweatshirts and packaged undergarments.
