More than 1,570 Kent School District seniors graduated this past week. The ceremonies started on Thursday when 42 students graduated from Kent Phoenix Academy. On Friday Kent Mountain View Academy honored 67 graduates at a ceremony attended by family and friends.
The commencement celebrations continued on Saturday as the district’s four large high schools held their commencement exercises at the ShoWare Center in Kent, a first for our district.
The day began at 9 a.m. with 431 Kentwood seniors receiving their diplomas. In the early afternoon, the families of Kentlake’s graduating class watched 316 graduates in the school’s commencement exercise. Next, Kent-Meridian’s graduation ceremony was held at 4 p.m. and more than 250 seniors graduated. The final celebration began at 7:30 p.m. when the districts largest class, 467 Kentridge seniors, moved their tassels, signifying their accomplishment.
