Sound Transit’s contractors will close State Route 516 (Kent Des Moines Road) from Interstate 5 to SR 99 (Pacific Highway South) during certain hours on Dec. 16 and on Dec. 20-23 for light rail girder setting.
SR 516 will close from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Dec. 16 and Dec. 20-23. Crews will try to reduce noise when possible, according to Sound Transit. Detours will be in place via South 272nd Street and South 200th Street.
The agency also will close 30th Avenue South directly south of SR 516 for crews to set bridge girders for future Link light rail service. That closure will be 24/7 with detours in place on Dec. 13-24.
Heavy equipment will be used.
Sound Transit plans to open the 8.7-mile Federal Way Link Extension from SeaTac through Kent to Federal Way in 2024.
