Residents can attend a public hearing before the Kent city hearing examiner about a conditional-use permit application by the city of Kent to add an off-leash dog park at Morrill Meadows Park on the East Hill.
The hearing is 9:30 a.m. May 5 in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 220 Fourth Ave. S.
The city parks department wants to turn 3.5 acres of undeveloped land next to Morrill Meadows Park into a fenced, off-leash area for residents to exercise their dogs. The proposed park is at 10600 Southeast 248th Street. The city owns the site.
Future expansion plans at the proposed off-leash park include trails, a grass play field and possibly a picnic shelter. For more information, call City Planner Erin George at 253-856-5454.
