The Striped Water Poets present a free collage and poetry workshop from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, July 28 at the East Hill Friends Church, 22600 116th Ave. SE, Kent.
Come early and walk the Meditation Trail behind the church. Feel free to collect whatever odds and ends you find there to use in the collages.
Participants are asked to bring poetry, typed in a larger than usual font. They will be arranging words and images together. Participants also are asked to bring pen, writing paper and cut-able material – those with pictures, old calendars, magazines and textured paper.
The group will provide material to cut and arrange, as well as glue, tape and scissors.
The workshop will alternate between creating collage art and writing poetry inspired by the collage art of the other participants. The group also will discuss the similarities and differences between creating collage and creating poetry.
