Hockey stars of tomorrow hit the ice for an instructional summer hockey camp at the ShoWare Center this week.
The Seattle Thunderbirds’ fourth annual Hockey School offered instruction to kids in seven age groups, including seasoned adult players. The six-day camp tested the players’ balance, edge control, skill development, puck handling, passing, receiving, shooting, defending and no-contact checking. T-Bird coaches and players also led off-ice training that involved dryland techniques, stick handling and shooting, skill development and repetition.
The school has a grown considerably in such short time, stretching from one to two weeks this summer and attracting between 100-120 players, nearly doubling its enrollment from a year ago, according to Jeff Caso, T-Birds hockey operations assistant. The school continues next week.
