About 300 students from Kent, Auburn, Enumclaw, Federal Way, Gig Harbor, Maple Valley and Seattle schools attended the Game of Life Youth Conference at the Kent Commons on Dec. 13-14.

The conference – designed and led by members of the Kent Police Youth Board with support from the Kent Police Department – confronted tough teen challenges.

Distracted, impaired and reckless driving was just one of the many workshop topics middle and high school students tackled at the leadership conference. Social media, respect, leadership, drug and alcohol abuse and suicide prevention were among the topics students discussed during facilitated conversations with each other and area experts.

Brandon Stogsdill, a mental health counselor who dedicates his time to youth health and wellness, gave the keynote address.

There were guest speakers, workshops and team planning.
