Drivers heading southbound on Interstate 5 from Kent will face two right-lane closures on certain nights for about three weeks as part of Sound Transit’s Federal Way Link light rail extension.
Two southbound right lanes will close just south of South 272nd Street to about South 288th Street from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Monday through Thursday nights, Feb. 24 to March 13, according to Sound Transit.
The approximately three-week closure is required for barrier removals and landscaping along I-5 south, just east of the new light rail line. Two left lanes will remain open. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic.
There will be no work Friday through Sunday nights.
Dates are subject to change, depending on weather.
The work is part of the Federal Way light rail extension from SeaTac to Federal Way, scheduled to open in 2026.
