Kent Police arrested three men for investigation of robbery Friday in connection with a drug deal and two shots being fired from a shotgun near an East Hill apartment complex in the 11300 block of Southeast Kent-Kangley Road.

The three men rwere among four who reportedly stole marijuana from a man who lived at the apartment complex, said Lisa Price, Kent Police spokeswoman, in a phone interview Friday evening.

The apartment resident, according to police, had agreed to meet the men to sell them drugs. But at least one of the four displayed a handgun as the men took the marijuana from the man without paying and fled the apartment.

The apartment resident then chased the men and fired two shots from a shotgun outside of the apartment. Nobody was hit by the shots.

Police were still looking Friday for a fourth man.

Officers recovered the marijuana.

“It was a larger amount than just for personal use,” said Price, who did not yet have an exact amount of marijuana involved in the case.

Detectives continue to investigate the case and whether to make additional arrests.

The 1:57 p.m. incident shut down Kent-Kangley for a period of time, as well as resulting in the lockdown of three adjacent public schools.

Police recovered a handgun, but have not yet determined if it was a gun used in the alleged robbery, Price said.

Kent Police had Kent School District officials locked down Daniel Elementary, 11310 S.E. 248th St., the Kent Phoenix Academy, 11000 S.E. 264th St., and Kent-Meridian High School, 10020 S.E. 256th St., during the incident. The schools were removed from lockdown after 3 p.m.

Police also shut down sections of Kent-Kangley Road for a short time Friday afternoon.
