Thunderbirds finish 2-4 on East trip | WHL

The Swift Current Broncos beat the Seattle Thunderbirds 2-1 Sunday at the Credit Union i-plex in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

The T-Birds finished the six-game road trip to the East Division 2-4-0-0.

The T-Birds come home and return to action for a 7:35 p.m. game Friday against the Spokane Chiefs.

Seattle (9-10-2-1) took a 1-0 lead at 18:48 of the first period. Alexander True cycled the puck to Ryan Gropp in the left corner. Gropp centered the puck to Ethan Bear coming down the slot. Bear took a slap shot that beat Swift Current goalie Landon Bow on the glove side.

Swift Current outshot Seattle 9-4 in the first period.

Swift Current (12-8-0-4) tied the game 1-1 on a power-play goal by Colby Cave at 6:52 of the second period. Cave came out of the right and beat Seattle goalie Taran Kozun through the legs. Coda Gordin and Glenn Gawdin had the assists.

The Broncos made it a 2-1 lead at 8:06 of the second. Gawdin put back the rebound of a Brett Lernout shot to give the Broncos the lead.

The Broncos outshot the T-Birds 13-12 in the third period and led 22-16 in total shots after two periods.

Seattle outshot Swift Current 8-5 in the third period and the Broncos finished the game with a 27-24 advantage in shots.

Kozun had 25 saves on 27 shots and his record is now 8-7-2-1. Bow made 23 saves on 24 shots and his record is now 11-6-0-3.
