Thunderbirds release 2010-11 hockey schedule for Kent’s ShoWare Center

The Seattle Thunderbirds junior hockey team will play its home opener for the 2010-11 regular season at 7:05 p.m. Sept. 25 against the Portland Winterhawks at the ShoWare Center in Kent. The Seattle Thunderbirds junior hockey team will play its home opener for the 2010-11 regular season at 7:05 p.m. Sept. 25 against the Portland Winterhawks at the ShoWare Center in Kent.

The T-Birds, who released their tentative schedule July 28, open the Western Hockey League regular season against the Everett Silvertips Sept. 24 at Comcast Arena in Everett.

The T-Birds are running their Opening Night pre-sale special for a second straight year. If you buy a group of 20 or more tickets, you will receive a second group game for free. For more information, call the T-Birds at 253-239-7825.

Seattle will play the Winterhawks at home six times, with all the games being played on a Saturday.

There are 14 Saturday home games, seven Friday home games six Sunday home games.

Rival Everett plays the T-Birds five times at the ShoWare, one Friday game, two Saturday games and two Sunday games.

The T-Birds will play seven games on a Tuesday in 2010-11. All seven of the games will be a 2-for-Tuesday game. Last season’s popular 2-for-Tuesday promotion gave fans the chance to get 2-for-1 ticket specials as well $2 concession specials.

The team travels to the Eastern Division for a six-game road trip from Nov. 6-13 when it will play the Brandon Wheat Kings, Moose Jaw Warriors, Saskatoon Blades, Prince Albert Raiders, Regina Pats and Swift Current Broncos.

Seattle has two home-and-home series with the Spokane Chiefs in December. The two teams will face each other on Dec. 14 and 15 and Dec. 28 and 29.

The T-Birds will travel to Portland to take on the Winterhawks in the annual New Year’s Eve game Dec. 31. The team is then back home at ShoWare Center for a New Year’s Day game against the Kamloops Blazers.

Season tickets are currently on sale. Season tickets can be purchased by calling the T-Birds office at 253-239-PUCK.

Single game tickets for the 2010-11 season will tentatively go on sale at 10 a.m. Aug. 25 at www.seattlethunderbirds.com and at the ShoWare Center box office.

The T-Birds tentative schedule will become final Aug. 10.
