‘Tips defuse T-Birds in series opener | WHL playoffs

The Everett Silvertips shut out the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-0 in Game 1 of their second-round WHL playoff series Friday night at the ShoWare Center.

The Everett Silvertips shut out the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-0 in Game 1 of their second-round WHL playoff series Friday night at the ShoWare Center.

Game 2 of the series is Sunday at 5:05 p.m. at ShoWare.

The T-Birds outshot the Silvertips 13-4 in a scoreless first period.

Everett took a 1-0 lead 11 minutes into the first period on a goal from Remi Laurencelle. Carson Stadnyk and Noah Juulsen had the assists.

Everett outshot Seattle 11-8 in the second period. Seattle led 21-15 in totals shot after two periods.

Matt Fonteyne scored an unassisted power-play goal at 2:11 of the third period to give Everett a 2-0 lead.

Laurencelle scored on a backhand shot from the slot at 3:27 of the third to put the Silvertips in front 3-0. Stadnyk and Graham Millar had the assists.

Everett outshot Seattle 14-5 in the third period and 29-26 in the game.

Seattle goalie Landon Bow made 26 saves on 29 shots in the loss.

Everett goalie Carter Hart stopped 26 shots to get the shutout.

Tickets

Single-game tickets for Game 2 are on sale on the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday game days at noon.

Games 3 and 4 are at Xfinity Arena in Everett. Game 3 is Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. and Game 4 is Friday at 7:35 p.m.
