‘Tips upend Thunderbirds, 4-1 | WHL

The Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-1 in Western Hockey League play at the ShoWare Center on Saturday night.

The Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-1 in Western Hockey League play at the ShoWare Center on Saturday night.

Seattle (18-10-2-0) took a 1-0 lead at 12:44 of the first period on Turner Ottenbreit’s second goal of the season. Ryan Gropp passed the puck from the left boards to Ottenbreit at center ice. Ottenbreit took a slap shot that hit the cross bar and went into the net. Ethan Bear had the second assist on the goal to give him a seven-game point streak.

Everett (17-10-0-2) tied the game 1-1 at 16:27 of the second period on a goal from Patrick Bajkov. Mackenzie Dwyer and Matt Fonteyne had the assists.

Everett scored three goals in the third period to get the win. Remi Laurencelle scored 44 seconds into the period to give the Tips a 2-1 lead.

Cole MacDonald scored on the power play at 8:58 of the third to make it a 3-1 Everett lead.

Bajkov added a second goal in the game at 12:07 of the third for the final Everett goal.

Everett outshot Seattle 34-27 in the game.

Seattle goalie Logan Flodell made 30 saves 34 shots and his record is now 11-6-2-0.

Hart made 26 saves on 27 shots and his record is 17-9-0-2.

On deck: Cougars

The T-Birds next play on Tuesday against the Prince George Cougars at 7:05 p.m. at the ShoWare Center.

Tickets are available online at the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday game days at 10 a.m. and Sunday game days at noon.
