For the Reporter
A fire broke out in the 23700 block of Military Road South, displacing an adult and five children this afternoon.
The fire, which was reported at just before 11 a.m., was on the first floor of a two-story townhouse. While the fire is still under investigation, it does not appear to be fireworks related, fire officials said.
All six residents were able to get out safely, and no other units in the row house neighborhood were affected. Red Cross is helping the displaced family.
This neighborhood is part of a small island of homes, which is unincorporated King County surrounded by the city of Kent. South King Fire and Rescue responded with support from the Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority.
