Unsafe road conditions have again required Waste Management to postpone residential curbside collection in most of King County, including Maple Valley, Burien, Renton, and all east King County areas.

Limited curbside garbage collection (no recycling or food/yard waste) is being provided as access allows in Kent, Seattle, Federal Way, Auburn, Algona and Pacific for regular Friday customers. Where collection has been postponed for two Fridays in a row, residents may put out up to double their regular garbage volume. Double volumes of recycling and food/yard waste will be collected on regularly scheduled weeks.

No Sunday collection in Northeast Seattle: Waste Management will not collect from Thursday customers, as was previously reported. Thursday customers, whose collection was postponed because of the Christmas holiday and icy roads, should remove garbage and recycling containers from the street and put double volumes of garbage out next Friday, January 2, per the New Year’s Day holiday schedule. Double volumes of recycling and food/yard waste will be collected on regularly scheduled weeks.

Friday customers should put garbage and scheduled recycling and food/yard waste containers out next Saturday, Jan. 3.

Consecutive Delays: Waste Management recognizes that the unusual duration of unsafe road conditions has resulted in some customers’ service having been postponed two weeks in a row. We regret the inconvenience, and will do all we can to collect the garbage and recycling as soon as safely possible. We will notify residents at www.wmnorthwest.com/weatherboard and by phone if conditions allow us to collect sooner than the next regularly scheduled day. Otherwise, residents whose collection has been postponed twice or three times may put out up to triple their regular amount of garbage on their next regular collection day with no extra charge.

King County residents outside the City of Seattle may take garbage and recycling to King County transfer stations, including Bow Lake in Tukwila, Enumclaw, Renton, Factoria, Houghton, and Shoreline. Call 206-296-4466 or visit for addresses and hours.
