A woman died from smoke inhalation during a vehicle fire on Kent’s East Hill.
Firefighters from the Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority responded to several reports of a fire at about 10:46 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26 in the 13200 block of Southeast 247th Street, according to a Kent Fire Department media release on Monday. Firefighters discovered a parked black SUV on fire.
After extinguishing the fire and opening the vehicle’s doors, the firefighters found the body of a dead woman. The woman died from smoke inhalation, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Investigators ruled the fire as accidental, said Kyle Ohashi, spokesman for the Kent Fire Department. He said no other details of the cause are available at this time.
“There were several reports from people who could see the fire, but were not sure of what was burning,” Ohahsi said.
The age, name and hometown of the woman have not yet been released.
