Kent Police arrested a woman for investigation of second-degree criminal trespass after an officer found her sleeping in an open shed  downtown in the 400 block of Railroad Avenue South.

The woman told officers she wanted to be arrested so she could eat and shower at the city jail.

An officer woke the woman the night of Jan. 30 after seeing her asleep in the shed on the abandoned property, according to the police report.

“You’re gonna have to take me to jail because I’ve been trespassed from here,” the woman said to police.

The officer checked with police records and determined the woman had been trespassed from the property so then he would have to arrest her for trespassing.

“Oh good, I can take a shower and get breakfast, thank you,” the woman said.

The officer handcuffed the woman and transported her to the city jail, where the woman again thanked the officer for the chance to get a hot shower and breakfast.

Jail officers booked the woman into jail at about 7:57 a.m. Jan. 30. She was released one hour later.

Assault

Officers arrested a woman for investigation of fourth-degree assault after she reportedly got in a fight with her 15-year-old brother at about 11:48 p.m. Jan. 27 at a house in the 24500 block of 101st Place Southeast.

A woman called 911 to report a dispute between herself and her brother, according to the police report. She said her brother had punched her in the face, chest and head.

The brother had left the house by the time police arrived. Officers formed a perimeter around the neighborhood and used a K-9 unit to find the teen in the side yard of a house a few blocks away.

Officers had reported that the boy might be a suspect in street robberies and could be armed with a weapon, possibly a handgun. Officers did not find any weapons on the teen.

Police interviewed the boy who told them his older sister started the fight by yelling at him and then scratched him and put him in a headlock. He had a scratch on his chest that helped officers determine the sister as the primary aggressor.

The sister claimed her brother called her names and came after her with a spoon before punching her.

Malicious mischief

Police arrested a man for investigation of malicious mischief and criminal trespass after witnesses reported a man trying to break into a home and then banging things around in a storage shed at about 5:04 a.m. Jan. 28 at the Bonel Mobile Manor in the 24400 block of 64th Avenue South.

Officers arrived to find several neighbors outside a shed where a man banged what sounded like metal objects, had the doors shut and refused to exit the shed, according to the police report.

Officers sent in a police dog that grabbed the man by the lower leg. Two officers pulled the man out of the shed and it took four officers to handcuff the man. An officer noted in the report that the man seemed to be on a narcotic drug of some type.

Neighbors reported a man had tried opening the door to their trailer and then apparently crawled under a trailer before entering the storage shed.
