You Me We Fest features hours of fun Friday at ShoWare Center

Interactive booths, sports competitions, contests and prizes, along with an impressive lineup of performances by Kent’s talented kids are just part of the fun at “You Me We”, coming up this Friday, February 18, 2011, 6:00-9:30 p.m. at ShoWare Center, 625 W. James Street. The free event is a celebration of Kent’s being named, for the first time ever, one of the 100 Best Communitiesfor Young People in America, by America’s Promise Alliance, the nation’s largest partnership organization dedicated to youth and children. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. with stage entertainment by Master of Ceremonies Greg Bennick, nationally renowned juggler, comedian, speaker, and family fun guy starting at 6:20 p.m.

* Soul’d Out Christian Center Dance (Elementary and High School student dance performance)

* Bollywood Glamour – Kentridge High School (East Indian-style dance)

* Pacific Islander Club – Kent Meridian High School and Mill Creek Middle School (Tahitian Couples dance, traditional island dance and chant)

* Chatelaines Dance Team – Kentridge High School (45 member drill team, “Rockette”-style dance)

* Royal Funk (jazz band, vocals) – Kent Meridian High School

The event is organized by a collaboration of community groups, including the Kent School District, Kent Parks Department, youth groups, sports and scouting organizations, churches, local businesses, and service clubs.
