A 63-year-old Auburn man died as a result of a fatal two-vehicle collision in the early morning hours of April 30 in Renton.
Washington State Patrol troopers arrested a 35-year-old Tacoma man for investigation of vehicular homicide.
According to a news release from the State Patrol, the 35-year-old driver traveled the wrong way, driving northbound on State Route 167 in the southbound lanes at Talbot Street at 2:50 a.m. He collided head-on with the 63-year-old man’s vehicle. The 63-year-old man died at the scene.
First responders transported the 35-year-old driver to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for injuries sustained in the incident.
According to the news release, the incident involved drugs or alcohol by the Tacoma driver. The collision resulted in the roadway being blocked for four hours and 16 minutes.
