President Joe Biden is visiting Seattle as well as Green River College in Auburn on April 22 as part of his visit to the Pacific Northwest this week.
The college reports that Biden plans to meet with a number of elected officials in the area and a limited number of members of the college community while providing remarks in the Mel Lindbloom Student Union.
During his visit to Seattle that starts at Seward Park, Biden is expected to sign an executive order aimed at protecting old-growth forests and strengthening reforestation efforts nationwide, according to The White House.
The trip is part of an expanded travel schedule ahead of the November elections as Biden tries to demonstrate that he has made progress on his agenda while also prodding Congress to do more, according to the Associated Press. New spending on infrastructure will be a focus of the president’s talks, according to AP.
Biden visited Portland International Airport on April 21 to discuss his $1 trillion infrastructure plan before heading to the Portland Yacht Club for a fundraiser for Democrats, according to reports.
Biden is expected to reaffirm his calls for Congress to pass legislation to lower prescription drug prices, as well as highlighting executive actions such as extending the freeze on student loan payments and tweaking the Affordable Care Act, according to the AP.
