Man suffocates to death in Auburn rollover crash

29-year-old man dies in July 25 incident

A 29-year-old man died in Auburn in a single vehicle rollover on July 25.

According to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, Julio C. Donaire-Gomez, 29, died on July 25 in a crash on the roadway at Ron Crockett Drive Northwest and 37th Street Northwest in Auburn.

According to the medical examiner’s office, Donaire-Gomez died as a result of positional asphyxia. Positional asphyxia results from one’s body position interfering with an individual’s ability to breathe.

The incident served as a single-vehicle, single-occupant rollover.

Auburn police believe both speed and alcohol served as factors in the crash.

According to Kolby Crossley, public information officer for the Auburn Police Department, Donaire-Gomez was a prior offender with a history of both speeding and driving intoxicated.
