Seattle Police arrested a 40-year-old homeless woman on a charge of reckless endangerment for allegedly dropping a bottle off an overpass onto eastbound I-90 early Wednesday morning, June 30.
According to The Washington State Patrol, no vehicles were damaged, and no one was hurt in the incident.
According to the WSP, the incident began at about 5:15 a.m., June 30, when it got a 911 call from someone who’d seen a woman throwing unidentified debris onto eastbound I-90 in the area of Seattle’s Rainier Avenue. The WSP in turn asked the Seattle Police Department to check out the area and find the caller, who’d said he would stick around to speak with law enforcement.
According to the WSP, the eyewitness told police that after he’d seen the woman drop the object, he saw her return to an encampment in the green belt area just east of I-90 with unrestricted access to the overpass. Officers then contacted a woman, the only person at the encampment, and after the witness made a positive identification, police arrested her on a single charge of reckless endangerment and booked her into the King County Jail.
According to the WSP, subsequent investigation determined that the object the woman had thrown was a glass bottle.
The Washington State Patrol and Seattle Police urge the public to notify them and to provide a destination and location. every time anyone sees a pedestrian on a freeway or anyone who appears to have the intention of throwing something off an overpass.
