Alvin Leroy Lockwood

Alvin (Al) Leroy Lockwood, 73, of Kent/Auburn. Al owned and operated Mardix Pharmacy in Kent on Se 240th Street. Mardix is one of few remaining independent pharmacies. Al served the Kent community for 40 years where he dedicated his life to watching out for the health needs of his customers, knowing many of them by name on sight. Al leaves behind his son Joshua Lockwood of, Puyallup, WA, daughters Saundra Lockwood McClain of Mesa, AZ and Jennifer Brewer of Clinton, TN, also, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Al enjoyed many years together with Virginia Lee Howell. He will be remembered for his generosity and kind spirit by his longtime friends Michael L Howell, of Kent, WA and Crystal L Hayes, of Lynnwood, WA.

Al was a quiet, contemplative person who loved music and was an avid movie buff. Working in his large yard on natural landscaping was a mission he pursued to provide a habitat for local wildlife. People often comment on how well fed the squirrels are in Al’s yard. Birds visited daily to feast on a variety of food, consciously left to insure they were healthy and would continue to visit. Al shared a love of animals with his family. Al sponsored a little league baseball team for several years and was very proud of the many trophies the team won. An avid baseball card collector for over 40 years he spent many nights quietly organizing the cards. Early in life Al was bit by the travel bug with lifelong memories of the island of Moorea which he would always encourage people to visit. He loved the sun and spent many years vacationing in sunny climates where he would parasail, snorkel and explore ruins. Al was a generous host, inviting friends and family to join him for summer barbeques and holiday celebrations. He was known to liven up the party when he poured shots of Dickle for each guest. Al was always ready to jump in to the spirit of the celebration, wearing costumes when the occasion called for it he was famously known by those who joined him for his great Willie Nelson impersonation. Al leaves us with fond memories of a life lived as a friend to many, a mentor and loved one who will be forever cherished. May peace be yours good friend, with fond memories we wish you goodbye.

The family asks that remembrance in lieu of flowers be made to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, P.O.
