Charles Vernon Love
1923 – 2011
Charles Vernon Love, 87, of Spokane Valley, WA, went home to the Lord Jesus Christ, January 29, 2011 of natural causes. Charles was born in Monroe, Louisiana to Charles Barksdale and Bertha Irene Love, where he grew up with four other rough-and-tumble brothers. He later went on to meet the love of his life, Evelyn M. Bloomer of Brooklyn, NY and relocated to Bremerton, WA where Charles was a Turret Captain First Class in the United States Navy. During that time of service, Charles served aboard many vessels, including the USS Chester and USS Chicago which engaged in many tours of combat. After he was honorably discharged from active duty, Charles went on to serve in the United States Department of the Navy, where he retired some 32 years later having spent much time on Navy vessels around the world. Charles is currently survived by many family members, including his above mentioned wife of 64 years, Evelyn. During their many years together, Charles and Evelyn had three children: Joyce Ellen, Charles Barksdale II, and James Willard all who currently reside in Washington State. From that, Charles was an amazing grandfather to four: Dean Williamson, David Love, Jennifer Evans, and April Love – all who currently live in Washington State as well. But the greatest thing of all, Charles was able to see and get to know three great-grandchildren: Brooke Cline, Ashley Cline, and Austin Evans. In every sense of the word, Charles was a committed patriot and believer in the strength, power, and sacrifices made by our great country and those men and women who have died serving it. Retired life found Charles relaxing at home with his bride and host of cats and dogs but he was always eager to help friends, family and neighbors. Per his request, and via his honorable service to the United States of America, Charles will be laid to rest at The Washington State Veteran’s Cemetery, Medical Lake, on February 11, 2011 with full military honors. Service will be led by Nathan Rector, Senior Pastor of Valley Real Life Ministries. Funeral arrangements carried out by Thornhill Valley Chapel, Spokane Valley, WA.
Jesus answered him, “Amen I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” Luke 23:42-44
