Clair (Chenier) Smith was born the youngest of three in Buckingham (Papineau) Quebec, Canada on May 3rd, 1931. She met her husband in 1950 on a blind date for New Year’s Eve set up by her best friend, Rita Belter. They were married in her hometown on June 4, 1955. In 1967, Clair and Lyle moved their young family from Hamilton, Ontario to Kent, Washington where they lived until her passing.
Clair had many interests including gardening, crocheting, hiking, roller blading and taking long walks. She and Lyle travelled extensively across the US and Canada, visiting family and friends, and in later years, wintering in Arizona with many of their long-term neighbors from Kent. She also enjoyed knitting blankets and making quilts to support Children’s Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at a future date. Remembrances can be made to the Alzheimer’s foundation of America (alzfdn.org).
