Dale Hutchinson | Obituary

Dale Hutchinson died at Gracious Living Adult Family Home in Bellingham, WA on Friday, June

3rd, after suffering from dementia following a number of strokes. Dale was born August 26, 1936 to Roy and Hildred Bertha (Barker) Hutchinson.

He is survived by one sister, Ruth (Hunter), and one brother, Glen, his daughters Laura J. Hutchinson and Linda E. (Hutchinson) Sabee Mitakides, wife of Steffo Mitakides and mother of Emilia and Carsten Sabee, Dale’s beloved grandchildren. Dale was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Jeannie E. (DeVerna) Hutchinson, brothers, Harold (Hutch), Gerald (Gerry), Ralph, Robert, Donald (Don) and Larry, and his sister Arline (Wyatt).

Dale received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Eastern Michigan University. Dale taught band and choir at Napoleon High School, in Napoleon, MI, from the early 70s until moving the family to Kent, WA, in 1981. He retired in 1996 from the Kent School District after teaching music at all levels. Dale also conducted church choirs while living in Michigan and sang with the Rainier Chorale, based in Kent, WA, for many years.

Dale loved family, friends and music, and his joyful outlook and love of a good time will be missed by everyone who knew him. We will be celebrating Dale’s life at our Hootenanny for Hutch, to be held at the Senior Center in West Seattle, on August 27th, from 3:00 – 5:00 pm. BRING YOUR MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, especially if you have a ukulele. There will be audience participation! Everyone is welcome. Hope to see you!
