Darrel Wesley Feighner
Darrel Wesley Feighner, 71, born on December 8, 1937, in Bellingham, WA, Darrel Wesley Feighner was one of four siblings in the family of the late Wesley and Evelyn Feighner.Prior to finishing high school, he left and fished a year in Alaska before graduating from Franklin High School with the class of 1956. He joined the army and served his country in Korea from 1958-59. Darrel met his wife-to-be, Beverly Teigland, and they were married March 2, 1963. Darrel learned the art of professional welding and joined the “Boilermakers” of which he was a member for 45 years. He worked on ships (Ivar’s anyone?), nuclear power plants, inside huge furnaces, and even on pipeline in Prudhoe Bay and other places with no name up in frigid Alaska. Upon his retirement, he pursued his joy of traveling. Trips to Panama, Morocco, Turkey, Spain, Portugal, Thailand, Germany, Mexico, as well as, the US, Hawaii and Alaska to name a few. It was just before his most recent cruise to Alaska, just six short weeks ago, that he announced that “this is my last trip”. As his health continued to decline, he began to put his house in order so that his family would not be left picking up the pieces. July 9, 2009, he slipped the surly bonds of earth and joined his Savior in heaven as his family held his hand and sent their love. Husband, brother, uncle, father, dad and grandpa, we shall miss your presence until we meet again. He is predeceased by his daughter Ardelle and two siblings Louis and Diane Feighner. He is survived by his wife Beverly Teigland Feighner; daughters Melanie Feighner Newhart and Lenette Feighner Hulme and their husbands and children; and his brother George Feighner.“Bon Voyage” Darrel Wesley Feighner “Bon Voyage”Memorial Service held on Saturday, July 18 at 11:30 a.m. – Grace Community Church in Auburn.
