Dave D. Acheson
Dave D. Acheson of Kent passed away at Valley Medical Center in Renton on September 23, 2016. He was 83.
Dave was born in Seattle on August 2, 1933 to Harold and Lela Acheson. He graduated from Kent-Meridian High School in 1951. Dave began his career with Pacific Telephone & Telegraph in August of 1951. He was drafted by the US Army in 1953. After he completed basic training in California, he was sent to Alaska to work for Alaska Communications Systems putting up telephone lines and poles. It was there that he began his life long love of Alaska. After returning from Alaska in 1956, he continued with his long phone company career at Pacific Northwest Bell and US West and retired in 1991.
Dave is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty (Irons), his daughters and their husbands Cheryl (Kevin) and Carol (Fred) and three beloved grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Patricia and Betty (Ken), his brother Arthur (Kathy), his brother-in-law Lee (Midge), many loved nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Melvin and Norbert.
At his request Dave was cremated. Inurnment at Hillcrest Cemetery in Kent.
Dave had a big heart and loved to help his family and friends. We will miss his humor and his stories.
