Donald Francis Gilmore
Donald Francis Gilmore, age 75, passed away at the Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma on December 10, 2008. He has been a resident of Covington, WA for the past 30 years.He was born on May 23, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri to Arthur William and Goldie (DeBord) Gilmore. He attended schools in St. Louis and served with the U.S .Army from 1953-1955 at Ft. Lewis.He met and married Wanda Lou Brown in Yelm, WA on June 25, 1955. The couple returned to St. Louis for several years, prior to settling in Washington state.He was plant superintendent for Truss-Span in Auburn for over 20 years. His enjoyments included his family and grandchildren. He loved to fly fish, watch sporting events, especially baseball, on TV and attend Saturday garage sales.He is survived by his wife, Wanda, at the family home; 4 sons, Mark (Dianna) Gilmore of Gig Harbor, WA; Donnie Gilmore of Black Diamond, WA; Rick (Kellie) Gilmore of Bonney Lake, WA; Tim (Sharon) Gilmore of Auburn, WA; daughter, Donna (Greg) Truchot of Covington, WA; 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; brother, Ed (Judy) Gilmore of St. Pawleys Island, S. Carolina and numerous nieces and nephews, 3 sisters, Thelma, Beulah, and June preceded him in death.Memorial donations may be directed to your local V.F.W. or N.R.A group.A service with military honors will begin at 11:30 at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA on Thursday, December 18, 2008.
