Dorene J. Nakayama
Dorene died on January 25, 2010 from complications in her fight against cancer. She was born to Hiroshi and Sachiko Nakayama on August 21, 1944 at Minidoka Relocation Center in Hunt, Idaho. After the end of World War II the family moved back to Kent, Washington, after a brief stop in Seattle. Dorene grew up in Thomas going to Thomas Grade School, Kent Jr. High School and graduating from Kent-Meridian High School in 1962 and attended Western Washington University. She spent a lot of her working career at the Boeing Company and Westin Engineering. Dorene had an infectious smile and laugh and was loved by everybody she met. People just wanted to be her friend. Throughout her life she made lasting friendships and maintained contacts with people she met in kindergarten to people she met throughout her life. It may be a cliché, but she was a loving and caring person. She is survived by; her daughter, Kimi Huston of Kent, Washington, Kimi’s ex-husband, Zach Huston, brother, Curtis (Charlene) Nakayama, nieces, Karen (Saul) Cornwall & Julie, uncles and aunts; Paul & Mary Hosoda, Dolly Ito, Satoshi & Nobuko Nakayama, cousins; Gordon (Cendrine) Hosoda, Harry Hosoda, Marco Nakayama, Rick (Allison) Nakayama and ex-husband, Steve Monroe. There are many uncles, aunts and cousins residing in Japan. Memorial services will be held at the White River Buddhist Temple on February 6, 2010 at 11:00 AM.
