Elizabeth (Bettie) Jean Dysart Lee Ellis Leiper
Bettie passed away the morning of Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at age 90.Born August 13, 1922, in Jamestown North Dakota to Leslie and Minnie Dysart, Bettie graduated from Jamestown High in 1939, attended North Dakota State University then transferred to Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho where she met Byron Lee. In 1942 Bettie and Byron were married in Yakima, then entered Nazarene Church ministry in Orofino, Idaho. Byron enlisted in WWII as an Army Chaplin and Bettie was widowed when he was killed during the Korean Conflict. In 1955, Bettie married Paul T. Ellis and joined the activities of the Kent Nazarene Church. Paul passed away in 1989. Bettie married Hugh Leiper in 1995.Bettie was preceded in death by: Minnie and Leslie Dysart, parents; Noel Kennedy Dysart, brother; Byron Lee, husband; Paul Ellis, husband; and Stephen Ellis, son.She is survived by husband, Hugh Leiper of Kent; Stephen Ellis’s son, Christopher Ellis of Puyallup, children: Mike Lee of Fairbanks, Alaska and his children Star and Taylor; Muriel Joy Lee Pritchard of Cascade Locks, Oregon and her children Corey, Kiana, Lee and Josie; Marily Lee Saur of Vancouver, WA and her children Alisa, Timothy, Christina and Ben; Byron Ellis of Seattle and his children Josh, Bradley and Margaret; David Ellis of Kent and his children Dorin and Logan; Pamela Ellis of Normandy Park; Chris Leiper of San Jose, Calif.; Eric Leiper of Kent; Nichole Leiper Revus of Newcastle. Great Grandchildren: James, Luca, and Eleni Papoulias; Donovan Carmack; Paige Mckinley and Libby Carmack; and Oliver and Maya Ellis.Daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and good friend, Bettie’s open generosity of spirit, service to others, and spiritual dedication will be remembered by many. A celebration of Bettie’s life will be held at Kent First Church of the Nazarene, Friday, March 8, 2013 at Noon.
