Faye Far-Rwe Chong Chan
Faye Far-Rwe Chong Chan, age 93, returned home on January 20, 2010. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her family at the home of her daughter in Kent, Washington. Faye was born November 16, 1917 in Shang Dong Pug, Chiu Yang County, Kwang Tung (Canton) Province, China. She was the oldest of 6 children. Faye was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Even though she received no formal education, she valued education and raised a family of scholars and doctors. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. She worked along side her husband as a part-time custodian for their Church after immigrating to the United States. She also assisted her husband in many business ventures. She is survived by her son David, daughters Monisa Wong, Audrey Yan and Florence Wong Hodgkin; brother Zhen Qing Chong, two sisters Koi Fa Chong and Lai Hing Ngai, twenty grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, daughter Lai Kuen and son Austen.A funeral service will be held Friday, January 29, 11:30 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 19714 106th Avenue SE, Renton, Washington. Viewing will be at 10 a.m. Graveside service follows after the funeral service at Hillcrest Memorial Park at 1005 Reiten Road, Kent, Washington. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations are sent to the Humanitarian Services Emergency Response to Haiti, of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
