George Bernard Polich, 95, born April 28, 1921, in Chariton, IA to Joseph and Filipina Polich, passed away on December 29, 2016 in Burien, WA.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1940 to 1945 (a World War II veteran), and then worked 40 years as an electrician and home builder until his retirement in 1985.
He is survived by three children Nancy (Ron) Piercy of Ashville, NC, Dr. Laura Polich, of Portland, OR, and Duane (Elaine) Polich of Bothell, WA., three step-children Sydney Layton, of North Plains, OR, Jackelyn Baker of Auburn, WA, and Katie (Bernie) Lenoue, of United Arab Emirates as well as two sisters, Zora Schumock of Portland, OR and Matilda Blenkhorn of Hudson, MA. He had eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Eileen, and last wife, Lea, as well as four brothers: Tony, Steve, August, and Edward, as well as five sisters: Eva, Mary, Bernadine, Katherine, and Elizabeth.
Services will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St Francis of Assisi Church, located at, 15236 21st Avenue SW, Burien, WA. 98166. Military services and inurnment of ashes will be held Monday, January 23, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Tahoma National Cemetery, located at, 18600 SE 240th St. Kent, WA 98042.
