Jean lived a fulfilling life of nearly 102 years. A lifelong Kent resident and descendant of early pioneers, Jean spent her early years playing piano, aquaplaning and swimming in the Puget Sound, and skiing at Mt. Rainier with her gang of first grade friends who all stuck together, lunching monthly, well into their nineties.
Jean attended the University of Washington where she met and married Jerry McDermott. She was predeceased by her husband Jerry and son William. She is survived by son John (Lorna), daughter- in-law Julie, daughter Kathleen (Gary) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jean enjoyed music, playing piano and organ and attending the opera, symphony, and ballet. A great lover of nature, she loved to pick little wild blackberries and could name every plant and bird. A wonderful cook and pie baker, she also loved travel and handicrafts of all kinds. She was active in her Kent Beta Sigma Phi sorority group and maintained many lifelong friendships.
Jean will be remembered for her unfailing warmth, kindness, and positivity and utter devotion to family.
