John J. Saviers 75, of Custer, WA died of pneumonia after a 4-year battle with leukemia on October 3, 2008. He was born July 25, 1933 in Wendell, ID to John & Hazel Saviers & eventually settled in Maple Valley, WA where he was raised.John was preceded in death by his son John “Randy” Saviers, his parents, brother Bill Saviers & sister Eleanor Barber. Survived by daughters Pam Wilder & Cindy Wittmier; 4 grandchildren, brother Francis Saviers; sister Lucille Niemela & brother Jerry Saviers.John graduated from Tahoma Sr. High School in 1956 where he put Tahoma High on the Map as an all-star pitcher for the Tahoma Bears. John retired from The Boeing Company in 1995. John enjoyed his Boston Bull Terriers, reading, telling stories of his past, watching ball games, western movies and reading his Bible. He was a life member of the NRA & of the Maple Valley Historical Society.Open services will be held on 10/11/2008 @ 2:00 at Greenwood Memorial Park Chapel in Renton, WA with graveside services at 3 pm.
