In loving memory of Joy Block, born January 5th, 1926, and passed away on January 29th, 2022, at the age of 96 from complications of dementia. She was born in Dodge City, Kansas and was one of 12 children.
She is survived by her younger brother Bob, who still lives in Kansas. Joy is now in Heaven with her Dad and Mom, Shelby and Ethel, and her loving husband Bernie, her two daughters Donna and Judy, her son Stanley and other family members.
Joy was a kind and loving person and always lived up to her name. She was a devoted mother and was the epitome of selfless, unconditional love! Joy had an amazing talent for cooking and spent much of her younger years preparing wonderful family meals and baking. She was well known for making pies and she always made everyone’s favorites. Joy went to the Maple Valley Senior Center for over 30 years and made countless close friends throughout her life.
Joy will be forever missed by her surviving son Dale Block, and her four daughters Jackie (Ron Maley), Jamie (Jack MacDonald), Ellen (Kevin Morrison), and Tamie Beitinger. She was blessed and so proud of four generations of grandchildren, 70 in all. They all loved Grandma Joy for her funny jokes and her caring smile.
The funeral service will be held on February 9th at Greenwood Memorial Park, 350 Monroe Avenue NE, Renton, WA 98056. Viewing: 12:00 p.m. Service: 1:00 p.m. Burial and Reception to follow.
