Karel Patricia “Patty”Edline-Johnson
Karel Patricia “Patty” Edline-Johnson, age 81, succumbed at her home in La Mesa, California on Saturday, November 14, 2009, after a prolonged battle with bone and lung cancer.Born December 30, 1927 in Seattle, Washington, to Harry and Margaret Simpson-Edline, they moved to Kent, Washington in 1941 where Patty graduated from Kent Meridian High School in 1945. On June 8, 1946 she was united in marriage to Norman Allen Johnson.For many years they owned and operated the Liberty Fruit Grocery Store in Kent. In 1972, Norman and Patty moved to California where they managed a motel chain until Norm’s retirement in 1986. Patty continued to work part time selling real estate and assisted her son in his business, “Scorpion Sand Products” as a
secretary/bookkeeper. Patty’s passions were many; an avid reader; a lover for her kitty “Loose-C”, (loose cannon), and traveling whether by road or air with her family. But, without a doubt her children, Bronte Johnson, Joyce Reeder and Paul Johnson were her greatest passions, love and achievement in life.She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Norman, her brother Howard Edline and her sisters, Dorothy Barber, Margaret Bowling and Donna Rice.She is survived by daughter, Bronte Johnson, daughter Joyce Reeder and son-in-law John Reeder, and her son, Paul Johnson and daughter-in-law Pam, as well as grandchildren Todd Bunger and his wife Karen, Bryan Ness and his wife Renee, Stacy Johnson, Jonathon Johnson, Zakary Mansor and his wife Michelle, and four great grandchildren Madison and Zoe Amaya, Tommy Mansor and a little girl due in April, 2010. Memorial services will be held at St. James Episcopal Church in Kent, Washington on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 11:00 AM. She will be joined in a private niche at the Hillcrest Burial Park in Kent, with her beloved husband, Norman. Patty will be greatly missed by her loved ones.
