Kenneth Scott Goodwin
Kenneth Scott Goodwin, age 54, passed away at his Toledo home of a pulmonary embolism on March 14, 2014.
He was born May 3, 1959 in Chehalis to Miles Eugene Goodwin and Alice Marilyn (Gentle) Goodwin and grew up in Kent. Ken graduated from Kent-Meridian High School in 1977 and from Western Washington University with a B.A. degree in Business Education in 1982 and a M.A. in Business and Office Education in 1984 from Central Washington University. At WWU he met the love of his life Linda Meinel and on August 4, 1984 they were married in Kent.
Ken had a wide-ranging work career – teaching business and coaching for the Naches Valley School District near Yakima, managing a computer store in Enumclaw, worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 21 years, rising to U.S. Postmaster for Winlock, and most recently he worked as a Financial Services Specialist for the State of Washington DSHS.
Ken enjoyed coaching soccer for his sons’ teams and was active in the Boy Scouts as a Scoutmaster. Ken and Linda loved spending time with their boys hiking, camping and canoeing. Ken was also an avid reader. He was a long time member of the Toledo Presbyterian Church and was recently elected as an elder for the church.
Survivors include his loving wife Linda and his three sons Andrew Scott (Ilwaco), Alexander Joseph (Phoenix, AZ) and Timothy Adam. He is also survived by his brothers Larry (Kent) and Steve (Newberg, OR.). He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday March 22 at 10:00 a.m. at the Toledo Presbyterian Church with a reception to follow immediately after. In lieu of flowers the family requests that remembrances be made to your local Boy Scout Council.
