Lloyd Dale Berry
After a 14-year battle with cancer, Lloyd Dale Berry passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on March 17, 2009, at the age of 78.Lloyd was born in Independence, Oregon on October 19, 1930, and graduated from Forest Grove High School (Oregon). He served in the US Navy for 4 years. He worked as a mechanic for the Boeing Co. in the Seattle area for over 35 years when he retired in 1993. He was married to CarolLe Stratton and together they had 6 children. All 6 children served missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For many years, Lloyd served as a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America, and as a little league baseball coach.After CarolLe’s passing in 1993, Lloyd married Patricia Spendlove. Lloyd is remembered as a patient and hardworking brother, husband, father and grandfather. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Patricia Spendlove Berry of Seattle, WA; sister, Zora Retherford of Burns, OR; brother, Larry Berry of Baker City, OR; 6 children, 3 step-children, and 30 grandchildren. Surviving children include Craig Berry of Kent, WA, Douglas Berry of McMinnville, OR, David Berry of Santa Monica, CA, Marlena Mercado of Kent, WA, Joella Jarvi of Sammamish, WA, and Joseph Berry of Concord, CA. Surviving step-children include Debra Nelson of Vancouver, WA, Darice Summers of Port Orchard, WA, and Robert Spendlove of Maple Valley, WA.Funeral Services were held Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the Beverly Park Meetinghouse of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 9500 Myers Way S, Seattle, WA 98108.
